The World's First Online Program for Cynophobia — From the World's Only Cynophobia Clinic

Overcome Your Fear of Dogs

A step-by-step self-help program from the world's only psychology clinic dedicated to helping people with a phobia of dogs. Tried-and-tested. Backed by research. Purpose-built for cynophobia.

AS SEEN ON

If you have a fear of dogs, you already know what it costs you.

Not just the panic when one runs up to you. All the stuff that comes before that.

Checking whether a friend's place has a dog before you can say yes to dinner. Scanning a park before you let your kids play. Changing holiday plans when you find out it's dog-friendly accommodation. Choosing the long way home to avoid walking past a house with a dog.

You're not afraid of dogs because you're weak or broken. Your nervous system has learned — very effectively — to treat dogs as a serious threat. That response has been running on autopilot for years, and it makes complete sense given how fear learning works.

The good news? Done right, your nervous system can learn a completely different response. That's exactly what this program will help you to achieve.

— THE SPECIALIST -

How I fill that gap — and why there's only one of me.

Hi, I'm Anthony Berrick. I'm a psychologist, dog trainer, and founder of The Cynophobia Clinic — the world's first and only psychology practice dedicated to helping people with a phobia of dogs.

Let me tell you how I got here.

Like most psychologists in private practice, I started my career as a generalist. But I quickly found myself being drawn towards helping people struggling with anxiety-related conditions, such as OCD, PTSD and panic disorder.

You see, in my final year of studies, I was involved in a serious car accident that caused me to develop PTSD. Fortunately, my condition was treated successfully, but the experience taught me firsthand what it means to feel overwhelmed by fear and anxiety — as well as how effective exposure therapy can be.

Later on, in 2013, toying with the idea of becoming a part-time dog trainer, I signed up for a dog training course run by two of Australia's most highly respected dog trainers, Steve and Vicki Austin.

Over the next couple of years, I volunteered for an organisation that trained assistance dogs for veterans with PTSD, which was incredibly rewarding. However, my psychology practice and my first child kept me too busy to pursue dog training as a profession.

Then, in 2015, a client came to see me for help with panic attacks at work. In passing, she mentioned she was also terrified of dogs — and that this fear was restricting her ability to socialise and be active outdoors. Then it occurred to me: I'm a psychologist. I'm a qualified dog trainer. I have a dog. Let's try something.

What happened with that client changed both our lives forever. She completely overcame her phobia. She was able to go on hiking trails, to the beach, to campsites, and visit friends and family who had dogs — things she hadn't been able to do in decades.

And I realised two things. First, that this approach worked in a way that neither a psychologist nor a dog trainer could do on their own. And second, that nobody else was doing it.

I opened The Cynophobia Clinic the following year. Since then, I've helped hundreds of people with a phobia of dogs — from pre-schoolers to grandparents — overcome their fear and reclaim their lives.

Unleashed is the product of everything learned from that work.

— WHAT'S HOLDING YOU BACK —

What actually stops people overcoming this fear.

After working with hundreds of clients, I've found the same three barriers to taking action come up again and again.

"I don't know where to start."

This is the most common problem people with cynophobia face. Exposure therapy works — the research is absolutely clear on this — but finding an appropriate starting point is critical. Getting it wrong can make things worse, not better. Unleashed maps this out for you — from your very first step all the way to your final goal.

"There's no one who can help me."

You've done your research. You understand that you need to gradually build your confidence around dogs in order to overcome your phobia. But you know you can't do it alone. Unfortunately, you quickly discover that there's nobody out there with the unique expertise needed to guide you through the process. I created Unleashed to fill this exact gap.

"My brain is just wired differently."

One of the hardest things about having a phobia is the frustration of feeling like you're in grave danger, even when you know deep down that you're safe. This can lead people to conclude that there must be something wrong with their brain. This couldn't be further from the truth. The fear alarm in your brain is doing exactly what it's designed to do — it's just being activated when it doesn't need to be. In Unleashed, I'll teach you how to recalibrate it.

— The Science —

Exposure therapy is the gold standard for phobias.

The most respected psychological and medical bodies in the world all say the same thing: exposure therapy works. It's the undisputed gold standard first-line treatment for phobias.

Australian Psychological Society

American Psychological Association

American Psychiatric Association

Mayo Clinic

National Health Service (UK)

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (UK)

What about other therapies? Put simply, there are no other treatment approaches that come close. Virtually all evidence-based treatment protocols for phobias include a significant exposure component, of one kind or another.

The science is not ambiguous. Exposure therapy works for the vast majority of people who try it. It's safe, effective, long-lasting and surprisingly fast.

- THE RESEARCH -

Real results — what the science says about exposure therapy.

Decades of peer-reviewed research point to the same conclusion: exposure therapy works — fast, deeply, and for the long term.

85–90%

Effective for up to 90% of people with phobias

Reviews of a structured exposure therapy protocol have consistently found improvement rates of 85–90% of people with a specific phobia.

Davis et al., Cognitive and Behavioral Practice, 2009

85%

Significant improvement across 33 trials

A meta-analysis of 33 clinical trials found that 85% of those receiving exposure therapy for phobias experienced a significant improvement in their condition.

Wolitzky-Taylor et al., Clinical Psychology Review, 2008

95%

Maintain improvement a year after treatment

Studies found that approximately 95% of people who respond to treatment maintain significant improvement in symptoms at one-year follow-up — without any further therapy in between.

Hauner et al., Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2012

80–90%

The single most effective treatment for phobias

A large review of treatment approaches for phobias found that exposure therapy produced response rates of 80–90% across a range of phobia types, making it the most effective intervention identified in the literature.

Choy et al., Clinical Psychology Review, 2007

#1

Outperforms all non-exposure alternatives

Exposure-based treatment produced large effect sizes compared to placebo conditions and every other psychological treatment tested for phobias.

Wolitzky-Taylor et al., Clinical Psychology Review, 2008

"Even a single session produces lasting change"

A meta-analysis of 67 clinical trials found both single-session and multi-session exposure therapy was highly effective for treating specific phobias.

Odgers et al., Behaviour Research and Therapy, 2022

"One session of exposure equivalent to months of CBT"

A large randomised controlled trial found that a single exposure therapy session was just as effective in treating phobias as multiple sessions of cognitive behaviour therapy over several months.

— THE INVESTMENT —

Why $997 is the right number?

Psychology sessions aren't cheap. By the time they're done, most clients who see me in person have invested $2,000–$3,000 or more — and they have to be in Sydney to do it.

Unleashed gives you the same system, the same expertise, and direct access to me if you need it — for less than four therapy sessions would cost. And you can do it from anywhere in the world, at your own pace.

But the real question is: what is this phobia costing you?

The holidays you don't take. The parties you avoid. The parks and beaches you can't enjoy. The places you can't take your kids. The feelings of shame and disappointment.

By the time you finish the Unleashed program — in as little as 90 days from today — you could be living without any of those limitations.

That's what $997 buys. Not a program — the freedom to live life to the fullest.

No risk. Money-back guarantee.

Enrolment in Unleashed comes with a full 14-day money-back guarantee. If you begin the program and decide it isn't the right fit for you, just send me an email within two weeks of purchase and you'll receive a full refund. No forms. No questions.

Taking the first step toward addressing your phobia already requires courage. The last thing I want to stand in your way is financial risk. Try it, explore it, and if it isn't right for you, you won't be out-of-pocket.

— FAQ —

Frequently asked questions.

What if my phobia is too severe?

The research shows that exposure therapy is highly effective, even for people with very severe phobias.

That’s certainly been our experience at The Cynophobia Clinic too. In fact, sometimes the clients with the most intense fear experience the most dramatic results.

Remember: exposure therapy is all about putting you in charge of your experience — that includes finding a comfortable starting point, as well as progressing at whatever speed you’re comfortable with.

Do I need access to a dog to do this program?

You don’t need a dog to get started, but exposure is the key to building genuine confidence around dogs, so eventually you will.

You can work with a dog you already know, such as one belonging to a friend or family member, but if that's not an option, I’ll show you how to find a suitable dog trainer in your local area.

I’ve supported clients all over the world to do this, and I’ve done all the work for you by creating a how-to guide, email template, and introduction video to make the process super straightforward and hassle-free.

How long will it take?

Unleashed is designed to be completed in three to six months at a relaxed pace. But it's fully self-paced — you go as fast or as slowly as you need to.

If you have more spare time to spend on the lessons and exercises, and want to achieve your goals sooner, you can certainly go faster.

Lifetime access means there's no deadline.

I've tried therapy before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?

I’ve worked with so many clients who have gone through multiple unsuccessful attempts at therapy before reaching out to me for help.

The most common reason other approaches fail is that they don’t include an exposure component — something that the research consistently finds is an essential ingredient in phobia treatment.

When exposure is included, it often isn’t broken down into small enough steps to feel manageable, or there isn’t a clear plan to progress from highly controlled situations to real-life scenarios.

Unleashed was designed specifically to address these shortcomings.

How do I access the program?

Unleashed is hosted on Kajabi, a professional online learning platform. Once you enrol, you'll have instant access to all modules via your browser or the Kajabi app on any device. There's nothing to install and no technical knowledge required.

I can't see you in person. Is this a genuine alternative?

Unleashed was designed specifically for people who can't access in-person support — whether that's due to location, availability, cost, or simply preference.

The program is built to be as complete as possible as a standalone resource, with every step explained and demonstrated on video. And if you reach a point where you need direct, individualised support, the included telehealth session means that option is always there.

Is Unleashed suitable for children?

Unleashed is a self-help program designed for adults to work through independently.

A self-motivated teenager could potentially work their way through the program with some help from a parent, however I wouldn’t recommend it for younger kids.

If you have a younger child with cynophobia, please visit the clinic website to find out about working with me directly, or leave your details to get notified when the program for kids is released.

What if I get stuck?

The final module of Unleashed is dedicated to helping you overcome any obstacles that might get in your way. In the decade-plus that I’ve been working with cynophobia, I’ve seen the same handful of sticking points pop up again and again, so I know what works (and what doesn’t).

And if you’re still stuck, then I’m here to help you one-on-one. You’ve got a free 50-minute telehealth consultation with me included in the price of the program, as well as discounted ongoing sessions, if you need it.

Is the money-back guarantee genuine?

Absolutely. Email [email protected] within 14 days of purchasing the program for a full refund. No questions asked.

You've waited long enough.

Most people with cynophobia spend years telling themselves they'll deal with it later. Later turns into next year. Next year turns into a decade.

Meanwhile, avoidance quietly shapes more and more of daily life — the routes you take, the social events you skip, the moments you can't be fully present for.

The fact that you're here means something has shifted. You're ready to stop waiting.

Enrol in Unleashed today — and take the first step towards a life no longer limited by fear.
